This week is sure to be a busy week in our class! I have sent home a newsletter with students tonight. We will be continuing to study the concepts behind multiplication. We are working on the cumulative facts from 0-4.
In reading class, we are working on distinguishing between statements that are facts and opinions. We are reading about the Titanic, glaciers, and icebergs. We are also doing ongoing reading from Charlotte's Web. Ask your 3rd grader about these cool stories!
In language, we are working on singular and plural nouns and we are focusing on writing narratives. Students need to understand that narratives must have a beginning, a middle, and an end.
Please be sure that your student is reading for 15-20 minutes and recording what they read in their reading logs nightly. Please talk with students about what they read. Quiz them on spelling words, and quiz their multiplication fact knowledge. I have sent home multiplication charts with all students. Checking your student's book bag regularly provides accountability for them in relaying information to you.
Just a reminder...fall break (Oct. 10-14) begins this Friday and students will return to school next Wednesday. Plan to spend some time with your child over this break.
