Reading logs
Just a note to make sure that all parents understand some important things about reading logs.
1. Reading logs are done every night of the week for 15-20 minutes.
2. Reading logs should only be signed by an adult who has witnessed reading taking place.
3. Reading logs do not have to be done with a library book EVERY night. Some evenings the reading could be from newspaper articles, appropriate magazines, or other printed materials such as brochures, pamphlets, dictionaries, encyclopedias, etc. Boys and girls should be exposed to varied types of print and writings.
4. Reading logs should be turned in for grade on Friday mornings. Failure to do so will result in a zero or a lowered grade upon being turned in.
It is SO IMPORTANT that your child is reading every night. Take a few moments to ask your child about what they have read. When you have a moment, read what they are reading, ask them questions about it. Boys and girls also like to be read to even though they sometimes say that do not like it. Encourage your child to read to younger siblings or cousins who are at the house.e
